I love my neighborhood coffee shop. It?s called ?The Pannikin? and is on the Coast Highway in Encinitas. These hilarious and foul-mouthed Mexican dudes work there and I make it a point to hook ?em up with all the promo tees and other gear we have laying around here at TWS.

Every morning I run into someone I know there, whether it?s the painter (who I never see painting) who waxes philosophical while reading the LA Times, to my old neighbor, Bam from Boston. This morning I had a two for one brodown in the form of Shayne McIntyre and KJ Butterfield.

First up was Shayne. You can?t miss him in a crowded coffee line because he?s about 6?4? not including his significant mop. Shayne and his wife have a show called ?On Surfari? that?s been shown on Fuel TV. Shayne just got back from Nicaragua where they were organizing efforts to help the people who live in or near that horrid dump in Managua. He and the wife are now off to Russia with Matt Beacham to surf somewhere in the Sea of Okhotsk. Sounds like another adventure for the McIntyre?s?best of luck to them and hopefully I?ll catch Shayne in line at the Pannikin when he comes back.

KJ Butterfield is a former pro surfer from back in the day and originally hails from Florida. I told him I was off to the Outer Banks tomorrow for the ESA Easterns and was arriving just as a NorEaster was to slam the coast there. He told me a story about surfing during a NorEaster in Frisco where he basically fell into the hull of a shipwreck?Obviously I?ll be on the lookout for shipwrecks in the lineup.
