If you’re like me and sometimes fancy yourself as a scurvy-stricken, rum drinking pirate who belongs in the South Pacific, you’ll love the titles below…

Mutiny On The Bounty

Mutiny On The Bounty

An amazing tale of seamanship, adventure, and violence set in my favorite place in the world?Tahiti. If you’ve ever been to Tahiti, the book is a realistic and accurate portrayal of what life was like in Tahiti hundreds of years ago, making it a learning experience as well as really entertaining.

Men Against The Sea

Men Against The Sea

One of the most amazing feats in navigation history was documented in this one. Booted off his ship (The Bounty) by mutineers, Captain William Bligh sailed a 21-foot dinghy from somewhere near Tahiti to Indonesia?thousands of miles?with rotten bread and little water as his only supplies.

Pitcairn Island

Pitcairn Island

I just started reading this one and it’s already shaping up to be a quick read (which means it’s really good). It’s the last of the Mutiny On The Bounty trilogy and is set on Pitcairn Island, a speck of land in the South Pacific. Again, the historical accuracy is amazing, as is the story of the mutineers who settled here. All I know is 90% of them met a violent death courtesy of a fellow mutineer…

A distant relative of my girlfriend, James Norman Hall, wrote these books along with co-author Charles Nordoff. There’s a museum in Tahiti dedicated to the authors’ home that makes for an interesting look back at old Tahiti, they also serve authentic Tahitian food there. Check out the James Norman Hall Residence HERE.
